Remodeling 2005
After much planning and praying the renovation to the church is finally begun! The first step of any remodeling project is to get everything out of the way. On Saturday June 4th, Messiah members volunteered (and even drafted visiting family and a few friends) to empty the building to make room for the construction. The pews were removed from the sanctuary. The Narthex was cleared out. The Church Office was moved to a temporary space.
If it wasn't part of the cement or tied into the building, it went into a storage container or into the dumpster!

Once the "stuff" was out of the way and there was room to work, the professionals started. In one day, the construction crew disconnected the heating system and electricity. The work crew removed some walls and made holes in others. They removed the raised choir space. Not bad for one day! On the second day, the rest of the demolition was done.

After all the moving and and storing and knocking things down and ripping things up and jack-hammering, the construction begins! Click here to see some construction photos from the first week of the work.
The second week of construction has begun! The changes might not be as dramatic, but progress is being made. Click here to see the second week's work.
The work is continuing. The organ pipe pit has been filled in, and the center entrance to the sanctuary has been prepared. Check out the third and fourth weeks work here. The fifth and sixth weeks saw the framing progressing nicely and other work being done also.
We're getting there! The contractors have put the wallboard up. The plasters have been in and coated everything. The painters have been busy. The school is slowly getting itself put back together. Check out the work here.
We're finished! All of the work is done and we are having services in a complete Sanctuary. Check out the finished work here.
